Dear Ladies-travelling-in-the-ladies-compartment-in-the-metro,
I’m confused. Would you mind answering this for me?
1.First you want reservation (which you obviously get) and then won’t open your mouth when a man enters and very comfortably travels in a reserved coach? What is it exactly are you afraid of? You are about a 100 against that one guy. Alteast stand up with the one who objects.
2. When one of your own does object to it, all the rest of you do is watch mutely or better still, turn your head away to the other side.Why?
3. Do you realise that when you sit in a seat specifically reserved for senior citizens, you have to vacate it when an older person boards the train? And by vacating, i mean getting up and not “slightly” moving your shapely behind to “adjust” someone to whom the seat rightfully belongs to?
4. When you ask me to make some room for you in an already overflowing seat, you realise that its ME who is doing YOU a favor and not the other way round? Should you not stop pushing me further and further into an immovable position that almost breaks ALL my bones ?
5. I understand that as women, we have this insatiable need to pack everything in our bags, hence often making it heavy to carry and hold onto for a long time. But before you place *that* heavy bag on me, shouldn't you ask me first? I am a person after all, not a random shelf inside the metro (which btw, they are yet to build!)
In name of sisterhood, motherhood or even Robin Hood (if you find him cute!), please help me understand your unnecessarily rude and strange behavior.

Other than the first and some part of the 5th point all hold good in the other compartments as well!
ReplyDeleteOh and there is something we men would like to ask the women, now that you have a whole coach for yourself (which is relatively empty) why would you board the general coach (already overflowing) and ask for a seat?
and bokul in general i personally find north indian girls and specially delhi /punjab/haryana/up girls too bold and aggresive to let somebody intrude into their space.
ReplyDelete@ Addy- I've experienced it only after the reserved coach came into practice :) As for why women board the general compartment- well, they have every right to since it has not been reserved for men.
ReplyDelete@Pizzafanboy - They are aggressive yes, but only in their context. I've never seen anyone stand up for any other woman when she is raising her voice against a wrong deed.
@Bokul - I have heard stories of women ganging up and beating a man who entered the ladies compartment in a burqa. He was slapped and almost killed by a mob of ladies!
ReplyDeleteAnd I dont think its the problem of ladies not ganging up together to stand up against a man. It happens in our compartments as well. Like @Addy said above.
I agree Bokul. The idea is to wait for the security person to come and shoo away the random man/men in the compartment (although personally i do find that far more entertaining!)

ReplyDeleteWow firstly its high time people stop being biased towards gender.Days are slowly turning the other way around and its high time womes stop thinking they are in a way lesser than males..Now are the days where ladies rather demand instead of request for their seat. its rather OK to do that as they are reserved to do that. But demanding that they are carrying a kid and one should vacate the seat should rather be a request especially if they are asking senior citizens or general seats. Moral of the story Utilize whats provided and dont mis-use it. Nice post Bokul
